Chaddesden Park Junior School

Mission Statement of the School

Our school aims are represented by ‘the Ace of Diamonds’ for the following reasons:

Ace = number 1, i.e. the best

Diamond = brilliant, shines, valued, sparkles etc.

The word ‘ACE’ stands for A Challenging Education – every child will be challenged in all areas of the curriculum.

‘ACE’ also stands for A Caring Environment – The school is a safe and caring environment for the children to work in.  There is also the wider link to the environment as the school is an ECO school, caring for environmental issues.

Every child, staff member and governor has been issued with a plastic ‘credit card’ style card showing the Ace of Diamonds on one side and the school crest on the other, in the style of a playing card.  This represents a ‘membership card’ for everyone in Chaddesden Park Junior School, as well as being a physical reminder of the school aims.

The card has no value yet is incredibly powerful in terms of symbolism and its tactile nature means that it is often handled, therefore reinforcing the school aims.

The ‘Ace of Diamonds’ logo has been incorporated into our school letterhead, and the children are awarded “diamonds” for good work or for being helpful, etc.  These diamonds are added to a total for the child’s team and count towards an end-of-term trophy for the team with the most diamonds.  The school team names reflect this gemstone theme:

  • RUBY – RED TEAM
  • EMERALD – GREEN TEAM
  • TOPAZ – YELLOW TEAM
  • SAPPHIRE – BLUE TEAM
