The Children

School Council

The School Council hold regular meetings (two children per class) to discuss matters, which the children wish to raise, concerning their school.  The School Council gives the children a greater voice with regard to activities within school, for example, fundraising, charities and playtime activities.

Health Promoting School

In January 2009 we were awarded Healthy Schools status.

Activemark 2008

This was awarded for exceptional delivery of PE and Sport in school.

Artsmark

The school has gained a silver award for our commitment to the Arts in school.

ECO

The school is committed to ecology and environmental ‘green’ issues, with some children growing their own fruit and vegetables.  The school has adopted the local park, and some pupils and staff represent the school as members of the “Friends of Chaddesden Park” committee.  The park is visited regularly by the children and used as a learning environment.

Mini Leaders

Some of the older children are trained as Mini-leaders and are able to teach other children a variety of playground games during the break and lunch times.
